As displayed here(prev.), the majority of Americans, no matter which political
party, are in favor of using embryos to treat diseases and other abnormalities.
So, why the debate? That is the thing: there should not be one. The government
is run by the people, and the majority rules. It is clearly seen in the above
poll what the people want, so why is it not happening?
In conclusion, stem cell research is a great field of medical science. It should
be pursued with the full precision of the government whose goal is supposedly
to save American lives and make them better. The issue of the fetus and embryo
can be solved with the simple logic that they are not living. They are not
human beings and the harvesting of fetuses or embryos is therefore not murder.
Also, a mother should have the right to do with her fetus what she wishes, and
if that includes donating it to help save someone else’s life, she should be
praised for it and not ridiculed. And finally, the people want it done; do it.
I propose that, in order to ensure that stem cell research reaches its full
potential, that the United States government as well as other private
providers do not condition, limit, or prohibit in any way the use of
stem cells for research. Lives are not only saved, but the human race as a whole
is further developed.
